Update on Archbishop Battista Pichrerri
OUR SHEPHERD LEFT FOR OUR FATHER’S HOUSE
Public announcement of the Archdiocese of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie
From the Official Website 7/27/2017
Today morning, around 8.30 am, Mons. Giovan Battista Pichierri, Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, was found without life. Probably he was going to wash himself when he was suddenly taken ill. The sisters who lived with him around 8.30, did not see him coming, so they called him, but they made the sad discovery. A priest acted immediately and called for help. The rescues came up promptly, but the various attempts to reanimate him had not any positive effect.
Mons. Giuseppe Pavone, Vicar General, invites the whole ecclesial community to pray “for our Father and Shepherd who was just about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination, all dedicated to serving the Church.”
During the morning the guesthouse of the Archbishop was the destination of so many people, especially priests and relatives of Mons. Pichierri. The body was arranged and placed in the burial chamber, located in the hall of the second floor of the Archbishop’s palace in Trani. It will remain there until 10.00 on Thursday July 27. Then, it will be transferred to the Church of St. John the Baptist in Trani: here, in the evening, a prayer vigil will take place at 8:30 p.m. and on Friday July 28 at 13.00, the clergy will recite the Little Hours; Subsequently, the corpse will be transferred to the Cathedral of Trani, where the Celebration of the funeral will take place at 4:00 pm. The Holy Mass will be presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Salvatore De Giorgi.
Mons. Giovan Battista Pichierri was born in Sava (Ta) on February 12, 1943. He was baptized on March 6, 1943.
After studying at the diocesan and regional Seminary in Molfetta, he was ordained a priest in the diocese of Oria (BR) on August 30, 1967. He completed his theological education by attending the Ecumenical Theology in Bari, where in 1970 he obtained the degree in Ecumenical Theology.
The first ten years of his priestly ministry were at the service of the Diocesan and Regional Minor Seminaries for the High School in Taranto. In the latter one at first as an animator and then as a rector.
When he returned to the diocese in 1977, he served the diocesan church collaborating directly with Bishop De Giorgi and Bishop Franco, and in the interval of the succession between these two bishops he was delegate “ad Omnia” of the Apostolic Administrator Voto, Bishop of Castellaneta.
Since 1982, Mons. Armando Franco appointed him as an archpriest, and entrusted to him the pastoral care of the Church “Santissima Trinità” in Manduria, that he served until March 12, 1991.
In 1986, Mons. Franco himself called him to cooperate more directly to lead the diocese, entrusting to him the task of Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia.
Throughout the years of his ministry he taught Catholic Religion in State Schools: middle and high School, Gymnasium, Commercial Institutes, Scientific High School.
On 21 December 1990 the Holy Father John Paul II chose him as Bishop of the Diocese of Cerignola-Ascoli Satriano (FG).
On January 26, 1991 he was ordained Bishop in the Mother Church of Manduria (Ta) by the diocesan Bishop, Mons. Armando Franco. On March 17, 1991, he entered the diocese,
On November 13, 1999, the Holy Father John Paul II transferred him to the archbishopric of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie and Nazareth (Ba).
The entry into the new diocese took place on January 26, 2000, the ninth anniversary of his episcopal ordination.
It is difficult to condense in a few lines a bishopric that was so full of commitment and teaching.
The relevant pastoral documents were about thirty. They, considered in a synoptic view, give an idea of the depth of the pastoral interests he pursued: the guidelines for the permanent diaconate (2000); Statute and rules of the Episcopal Curia (2000); The parish as a cell and pastoral subject (2001), the parish as a missionary eucharistic community (2002), the parish as a missionary ecumenical community (2005); on the instituted ministries. (2002); about family and youth (2002); On engagement (2005); On pastoral visit (2005); On the Institute of Religious Studies (2007); On the formation of the diocesan presbytery (2007); On the importance of listening to the Word of God (2008); On the deeper meaning of the Church as House of Hope (2007) and with a Maternal Face (2008); On the Pastoral Care of Wounded Families (2009), and the list goes on.
His service was multifaceted: for teaching, sanctification, pastoral service, for the cause of ecumenism, creation of charity works in the seven cities of the diocese.
The First Diocesan Synod was his last pastoral choice that he wished and accomplished in several years. It was issued on October 19, 2012, on the theme “For the Church, a mystery of communion and mission”. “It is celebrated under the action of the Holy Spirit” as he used to say at the preparation stages, during the time of reflection and discussion about the instrument of work, and in the election assemblies (2013-2015). The Synod ended on October 30 2015. On January 26, 2016, on the XXV anniversary of his episcopal ordination, he promulgated the Synodal Book. Since then, he worked with his collaborators to realize the guidelines of the Synodal Book: the reform of the curia, creation of a formation school for pastoral workers, establishment of a diocesan service for families in crisis, the summons of a diocesan conference to verify the path accomplished after the synod.
More recently, he was preparing for the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of his priestly ordination, in the name of sobriety and prayer. For that occasion he wanted to send to the diocesan community a letter that will be made known in a few days, in which, among other things, he wrote:
“We have come to the time of physical farewells: on February 12, 2018, I will be 75 years old and, according to Can. 401 of the Code of Canon Laws, I am required to put the episcopal mandate into the hands of the Holy Father Francis. I do this with serenity of spirit and as a act of love towards the Holy Church of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, so that it can continue to grow in Jesus Christ, our good and beautiful pastor, under the guidance of the one whom the Holy Father will elect and send as my successor. What I feel I have to write to you is not my last will, but a warm exhortation to remain in God’s love, just as our teacher Jesus asks us: “Remain in my love!” (John 15: 9) . (…) About pastoral commitment: Please consider the diocesan synod we celebrated as the “magna carta” to follow, for the diocesan pastoral ministry, improving it, step by step under the new guidance of the Archbishop who you will have as a gift .
Beloved, let the Archbishop, my successor, know what we experienced in Christ Jesus under the action of the Holy Spirit, through your synodal ecclesial lifestyle. The new Shepherd will come to serve and grow with you ‘by every supporting ligament ‘(Ephesians 4:16) of the mystical body of Christ. ”
And, in an interview with the monthly diocesan “In Communion,” when he was asked if he wanted to talk about a subject he had not been asked before, he said:
“I leave the Archdiocese of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie to enter my diocese of origin, Oria, and live in my native town, Sava. I have a” dream “that I wish and ask the Lord to be able to accomplish it: to work to return the presence of consecrated people to Sava. Let me explain. In Sava, there were the minor Franciscan friar who had created some works of charity. The Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent and St. Luisa de Marillac who had thaught many generations of children and girls in the “Daughters of Mary”, and had taken care of the poor by helping the “Ladies of Charity”; The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, worthy for the equalized primary and secondary school. Now, Sava, is lacking in the precious presence of Consecrated Life. So, with the help of God and the cooperation of the brothers and sisters who are engaged in associations and volunteering, supported by the Diocesan Bishop and civil authorities, I would like to set up a ” House of Tenderness ” in a significant place in the city and entrust it to a community of consecrated life, held by myself, by the priests of the city, by the Volunteers. That would be a miracle! Therefore, I ask the prayer of the beautiful diocesan church of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie that I carry in my heart. Thank you!”

Feast of St. Mary Magdalen
Saint Mary Magdalen
ST MARY MAGDALEN (FIRST CENTURY)
The story of St. Mary Magdalen, as generally received in the West following St. Gregory the Great, is one of the most moving and encouraging in the Holy Scriptures. Mention is made in the gospels of a woman who was a sinner (Luke vii 37-50, etc.), of Mary Magdalen, a follower of our Lord (John xx 10-18, etc.), and of Mary of Bethany, the sister of Lazarus (Luke x 38-42, etc.), and the liturgy of the Roman church by identifying these three as one single individual has set its approval on the ancient
tradition and popular belief of Western Catholics.1
Mary Magdalen, whom our English ancestors called “Mawdleyn,” probably received her name
from Magdala, a place on the western shore of the sea of Galilee, near to Tiberias, and our Lord first met her when on His Galilean ministry. St. Luke records that she was a sinner, and evidently a notori- ous sinner (though he says nothing to suggest that she was a public harlot, as is commonly supposed), and goes on to describe how, Christ having accepted an invitation to dine with a Pharisee, she came into the house while they were at table, fell weeping before Jesus, and, having wiped His feet with her own hair, anointed them with ointment from an alabaster box. The Pharisee murmured at what seemed to him the unbecoming acquiescence of a prophet in the presence of a great sinner, and Jesus, knowing his thoughts, rebuked him; first by asking which of two released debtors, a great and a small, had the more cause to be grateful to their creditor, and then directly:
“Dost thou see this woman? I entered into thy house—thou gavest me no water for my feet. But she with tears hath washed my feet, and with her hairs hath wiped them. Thou gavest me no kiss. But she, since she came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint—but she with ointment hath anointed my feet. Wherefore I say to thee: Many sins are forgiven her, because she hath loved much. But to whom less is forgiven, he loveth less.” And to the penitent woman he said, “Thy sins are forgiven thee. Thy faith hath made thee safe. Go in peace.”
In his very next chapter St. Luke, in speaking of the missionary travels of our Lord in Galilee, tells us that He and His apostles were accompanied and ministered to by certain women, among them (by name) Mary Magdalen, “out of whom seven devils had gone forth.” Later, He entered into a certain town and was received by Martha and her sister Mary, who supposedly had come to live with their brother Lazarus at Bethany in order to be nearer the Master who, at their instance, had restored him to life. Martha, busy about the house, appealed to Him to urge Mary to help her, rather than to sit continu- ally at His feet listening to His words, and received that answer which has puzzled and consoled all succeeding ages: “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and art troubled about many things. But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Mary the sinner had become Mary the contemplative.
On the day before the triumphal entry into Jerusalem which was the prelude to His passion, Jesus supped with the family of Lazarus at Bethany (Jesus loved them, St. John tells us), and on this occasion Mary again anointed His head and feet and wiped them with her hair, so that “the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.” And again there was a critic present, this time Judas Iscariot the apostle,
scandalized not because he was self-righteous but because he was dishonest and avaricious; and even the other disciples were distressed at what seemed a waste. And again Jesus vindicated Magdalen:
“Let her alone! Why do you molest her? She hath wrought a good work upon me. For the poor you have always with you, and whensoever you will you may do them good; but me you have not al- ways. She hath done what she could: she is come beforehand to anoint my body for the burial. Amen, I say to you—wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which she hath done shall be told for a memorial of her.” “And behold!” says St. John Chrysostom, “what He said has come to pass. Wherever you go you will hear her praises sung…. The dwellers in Persia, in India… in the British isles celebrate this deed.”
And yet Mary Magdalen is remembered at least as well for other things. In the darkest hour of our Lord’s life she stood at some distance, watching Him on the cross; and with “the other Mary” she saw the great stone rolled before the door of the tomb wherein lay the body of the Lord. But the crowning mercy of the life of Mary Magdalen was yet to come, for it was she who, bearing sweet spices and weeping by the sepulchre early on the first day of the week, was the first to see, to be greeted by, and to recognize, the risen Christ; she, the contemplative, was the first witness to that resurrection without which our faith and our preaching are alike vain; it was to the abused flesh of the penitent that the radi- ant and glorified body of the Son of God was first made manifest.
Jesus saith to her, “Mary!” She, turning, saith to Him, “Master!” Jesus saith to her: “Do not touch me, for I am not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and say to them: I ascend to my Fa- ther and to your Father, to my God and to your God.”
According to Eastern tradition, Mary Magdalen after Pentecost accompanied our Lady and St. John to Ephesus where she died and was buried; the English pilgrim St. Willibald was shown her shrine there in the middle of the eighth century. But according to the tradition of France, in the Roman Marty- rology and by the granting of various local feasts, she, with Lazarus, Martha, and others, evangelized Provence. The last thirty years of her life, it is claimed, she spent in a cavern of a rock, La Sainte Baume, high up among the Maritime Alps, to be transported miraculously, just before she died, to the chapel of St. Maximin; she received the last sacraments from and was buried by that saint.
The earliest known reference to the coming of the Palestinians to France is of the eleventh cen- tury, in connection with the relics of St. Mary Magdalen claimed by the abbey of Vézelay in Burgundy; the elaborations of the story seem to have spread in Provence only during the thirteenth. From 1279 the relics of the Magdalen are said to be in the keeping of the monks of Vézelay and of the Dominican fri- ars of Saint-Maximin, to the shrine in which church and the cave at La Sainte Baume pilgrimage is still popular. But research, especially by Mgr.. Duchesne, has demonstrated more and more clearly that nei- ther the relics nor the story of the voyage of the friends of our Lord to Marseilles can be relied on as authentic; in spite of the defence of those piously concerned on behalf of the local belief, it cannot be doubted that the whole story is a fabrication.
Among the other curious and baseless tales current about the saint in the middle ages is that she was affianced to St. John the Evangelist when Christ called him. “She had thereof indignation that her husband was taken from her, and went and gave herself to all delight; but because it was not fitting that the calling of St. John should be the occasion of her damnation, therefore our Lord mercifully con- verted her to penance, and because He had taken from her sovereign delight of the flesh, He replen- ished her with sovereign spiritual delight before all other, that is, the love of God” (The Golden Leg- end).

The Three MISSIONS
VOLUME 17; May 4, 1925
The Mission of the Divine Will shall veil the Most Holy Trinity upon earth, and shall make man return to his Origin.
After writing what is written above, I began to do the Adoration to my Crucified Jesus, Fusing all of myself in His Most Holy Will; and my beloved Jesus came out from within my interior, and placing His Most Holy Face close to mine, all Tenderness, told me: “My daughter, did you write everything on the Mission of My Will?”
And I: “Yes, yes, I wrote everything.”
And He, again: “And what if I told you that you have not written everything? Rather, you have left out the Most Essential Thing. So, continue writing, and add: The Mission of My Will shall Veil the Most Holy Trinity upon earth. Just as in Heaven there are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Inseparable from One Another but Distinct among Themselves, Forming the Whole Beatitude of Heaven; in the same way, on earth there shall be three persons who, because of their Missions, shall be Distinct and Inseparable among themselves: the Virgin, with Her Maternity that Veils the Paternity of the Celestial Father and Encloses His Power in order to Fulfill Her Mission of Mother of the Eternal Word and Co-Redemptrix of mankind; My Humanity, for the Mission of Redeemer, that Enclosed the Divinity, and the Word, without ever separating from the Father and from the Holy Spirit, Manifested My Celestial Wisdom – adding the Bond of rendering Myself Inseparable from My Mama; and you (Little Daughter of the Divine Will, Luisa Piccarreta), for the Mission of My Will, as the Holy Spirit shall make Display of His Love, Manifesting to you the Secrets, the Prodigies of My Will, the Goods It contains, to make Happy those who shall give themselves to Knowing how much Good this Supreme Will contains, to love It and to let It Reign in their midst, offering their souls to let It Dwell within their hearts, that It may be able to form Its Life in them – adding the Bond of Inseparability between you (Little Daughter of the Divine Will, Luisa Piccarreta), the Mother and the Eternal Word.
“These Three Missions are Distinct and Inseparable. The first two have prepared the Graces, the Light, the Work, and with unheard-of pains, for the Third Mission of My Will, to then Fuse themselves all in It without leaving their Office, so as to find Rest, because My Will alone is Celestial Rest. These Missions shall not be repeated, because the Exuberance of Grace, of Light, of Knowledge is Such and So Great that all human generations can be Filled with them; even more, they shall not be able to contain all the Good that they contain. These Missions are symbolized by the sun; in fact, in creating it, I filled it with so much light and heat, that all human generations have superabundant light. Nor did I consider that, since at the beginning of Creation there were only Adam and Eve who would enjoy it, I could place the necessary light for them only, to then increase new light as the generations would grow. No, no – I made it full of light, just as it is now, and shall be. For the Decorum and the Honor of Our Power, Wisdom and Love, Our Works are always done with the Fullness of All the Good that they contain; nor are they subject to increasing or decreasing. So I did with the sun: I centralized in it all the light that was to serve up to the last man. But how many goods does the sun not do for the earth? What Glory, in its mute light, does it not give to its Creator? I can say that because of the immense goods it does to the earth, in its mute language the sun Glorifies Me and makes Me Known more than all other things together; and this, because it is full in its light, and stable in its course. When I looked at the sun that, with so much light, only Adam and Eve were enjoying, I also looked at all the living; and in seeing that that light was to serve all, My Paternal Goodness Exulted with Joy, and I remained Glorified in My Works. So I did with My Mama: I filled Her with So Much Grace, that She can give Graces to all without ever exhausting even one of them. So I did with My Humanity: there is no Good that It does not Possess; It enclosed Everything, and the very Divinity, to give It to whomever wants of It. So I did with you: I enclosed in you My Will, and, with It, I enclosed Myself. I enclosed in you Its Knowledges, Its Secrets, Its Light. I Filled your soul up to the brim; so much so, that what you write is nothing other than the Outpouring of what you contain of My Will. And even though it now serves you alone, and a few Glimmers of Light serve a few others, I am content because, being Light, More Than Second Sun, it shall make its way by itself, in order to Illuminate the human generations and to bring about the Fulfillment of Our Works: that Our Will be Known and Loved, and that It Reign as Life in the creatures. This was the Purpose of Creation – this, its Beginning, and this shall be the Means and the End.
“Therefore, Be Attentive, because this is about Placing in Safety that Eternal Will that, with so much Love, wants to Dwell in the creatures. But It wants to be Known, It does not want to be like a stranger, but wants to give Its Goods and become Life of each one. However, It wants Its Rights, Its Place of Honor; It wants the human will to be put aside – the only enemy for Itself and for man. The Mission of My Will was the Purpose of the Creation of man. My Divinity did not depart from Heaven – from Its Throne, while My Will not only departed, but descended into all created things and formed Its Life in them. But while all things Recognized Me, and I dwell in them with Majesty and Decorum, man alone drove Me away. But I want to Conquer him and Win him, and therefore My Mission is not ended. So I called you, Entrusting to you My own Mission, that you may place the one who drove Me away on the Lap of My Will, and everything may return to Me in My Will. Therefore, do not be surprised at the Many Great and Marvelous Things I may tell you for the sake of this Mission, or at the Many Graces I may give you; because this is not about making a Saint, or saving the generations. This is about placing a Divine Will in Safety, that all may Return to the Beginning, to the Origin from which all came, and that the Purpose of My Will may have Its Fulfillment.”

Feast Day of Santa Maria de Greca, Protector of Corato 7/18
Miraculous image of “Santa Maria Greca” that appeared on July 18, 1656 in Corato, Italy. Archbishop Mons. Addazi obtained permission from the Holy Office on May 11, 1962 to transfer the mortal remains of Luisa to the Church of Santa Maria Greca with the internment occurring on July 3, 1962.
In the night of 18th July 1830, 1st Appearance of the Virgin Mary, Catherine was woken up by a child ringed in a halo of light. She followed him into the church which was open and lit by countless candles. The child asked her to kneel next to the altar where the Virgin Mary was waiting for her with a message, a mixture of political and religious predictions.
In this message, she namely predicted the July 1830 revolution in France, the bloody political events of 1870, the death of Archbishop Darboy in 1871 and the ensuing political chaos. The Virgin Mary also announced the formation of 2 religious communities abroad, one in the United States (founded by Elisabeth-Ann Seton) and one in Austria, founded by Léopoldine de Brandis.

In Honor of July 13th Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima to the children
In honor of the July 13 Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima to the children:
“Convert us, O Lord, to Thee, and we shall be converted:
Renew our days, as from the Beginning.” Lam 5:21
V4 – 10.31.00 – The Celestial Mother helps Luisa to Disarm Justice. The most salutary and efficacious medicine in the saddest encounters of life is resignation – As I was in my usual state, I felt myself outside of myself and I found the Queen Mama. As She saw me, She began to Speak about Justice, and how It is about to Clash with All Its Fury against the people. She said many things about this, but I don’t have the words to express them. In the meantime I could see the Whole of Heaven Filled with Points of Swords against the world. Then She added: “My daughter, you have Disarmed Divine Justice many times, contenting yourself with receiving Its Blows upon yourself. Now that you see It at the Summit of Its Fury, do not lose heart, but Be Courageous; with heart full of Holy Fortitude, Enter into this Justice and Disarm It. Do not be afraid of the Swords, of the Fire, or of anything you may encounter; in order to obtain the Intent, if you see yourself wounded, beaten, burned, rejected, do not draw back, but rather, let this be a Spur for you to move on. See, so that you may do this, I Myself have Come to your help by Bringing you a Garment; as your soul wears it, you will acquire Courage and Fortitude so as to fear nothing.” Having said this, from within Her Mantle She Pulled Out a Garment Woven with Gold, Streaked with Various Colors, and She Clothed my soul. Then She Gave me Her Son, telling me: “And now, as a Pledge of My Love, I Place My Dearest Son in your custody, that you may Keep Him, Love Him and Content Him in Everything. Try to Act in My Stead, so that, as He Finds All His Contentment in you, the discontent that All the others give Him may not cause Him too much Pain.”
V4 – 3.22.01 – She sees Rome and great sins. Jesus wants to Chastise, but Luisa is opposed – As I continued in my usual state of privation, and therefore of unspeakable bitternesses, this morning, my Adorable Jesus Came and Transported me outside of myself. It seemed to me that it was Rome. How many spectacles one could see from all classes of people! Even in the Vatican one could see things that were repugnant. What to say, then, about the enemies of the Church? How consumed with rage they are against Her, how many slaughters they are plotting – but they cannot carry them out because Our Lord Holds them Bound still. But that which frightened me the most was to see my Loving Jesus almost in the Act of Giving them freedom. Who can say how consternated I remained? Then, seeing my consternation, Jesus told me: “Daughter, the Chastisements are Absolutely Necessary. Rot and gangrene have entered all classes, therefore Fire and Sword are Necessary so that Not Everyone may perish. So, this is the last time I tell you to Conform to My Will, and I Promise you to Spare in part.”
V5 – 5.20.03 – Luisa offers her life for the Church and for the Triumph of the Truth – As I was in my usual state, I found myself outside of myself with Blessed Jesus in my arms, in the Midst of many people who, with irons, swords and knives, were trying, some to beat, some to wound, some to cut off the members of Our Lord. But as much as they did and tried, they could cause no harm. On the contrary, their very irons, as sharp and cutting as they were, lost all their activity, and became inoperative. Jesus and I were Highly Afflicted at seeing the brutality of those inhuman hearts which, though they saw that they could do nothing, would yet repeat the blows in order to succeed in their intent; and if they caused no harm, it was because they were unable to. They became angry because their weapons had become useless and they were unable to carry out their resolute will to do harm to Our Lord; and they said to themselves: “Why are we unable to do anything? What is the cause? It seems that other times we were able to do something, but as we find ourselves in the arms of this One here, we can do nothing. Let us try and see whether we can do harm to her, and get her out of the way.” While they were saying this, Jesus Withdrew to my side and Gave them freedom to do what they wanted. But before they laid hands on me, I said: “Lord, I offer my life for the Church and for the Triumph of the Truth – accept, I pray You, my sacrifice.’ Then they took a sword and cut my head off. Blessed Jesus Accepted my sacrifice, but while they were doing this, in the act of making the sacrifice, to my highest sorrow I found myself inside myself. I thought I had reached the Place of my desires, but I remained disappointed.
V12 – 12.30.1917 – I was frightened, and I said: ‘Placate Yourself, O Jesus! Look at us as the Fruit of Your Blood, of Your Wounds, and change the Scourges into Graces!’ And He added: “Things will go Forward. I will Humiliate man to the dust, and various sudden and unexpected accidents will continue to Occur, to Confuse man even More. Wherever he believes to find escape, he will find a tie; where a victory, a defeat; where light, darkness; so that he himself will say: ‘I am blind, and I don’t know what else to do.’ The Destructive Sword will Continue to Devastate, until Everything is Purified.”

En Honor de Julio 13 Aparicion de la Virgen de Fatima a los niños
“Conviertenos O Jesus, a Ti, y seremos convertido:
Renueva nuestros dias, a de el Prencipio.” Lam 5:21

Letter from the new Postulator of the Cause of Luisa Piccarreta
Mons. Paolo Rizzi, the new Postulator of the Cause of Canonisation of Luisa Piccarreta, worked promptly to give a decisive impetus to the Roman phase of the Cause and accelerate the canonical process that is now at a decisive stage.
The complexity of the Cause requires, for the progress of the same Cause, a great deal of work and a heavy economic burden a costly burden. Therefore, Mons. Rizzi decided to address the groups of the Divine Will and all the faithful, by writing a letter which is reproduced below. Through this letter he appeals to their generosity so that the Church can recognize the holiness of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta and elevate her, as soon as possible, to the honors of the altars.
-To the groups of the Divine Will of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta
-To the faithful devotees of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta
Following my appointment as the new Postulator, I was able to devote myself to the verification of both the path undertaken until now and of future projects. I appreciated the work properly carried out by the Actor of the Cause, namely, the Association Luisa Piccarreta Little Children of the Divine Will with headquarters in Corato, as well as the valid work of the diocese of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie that has adequately fulfilled the diocesan phase of the Cause. All this constitutes a solid base as a strong guarantee for a positive outcome. At the same time, I have noted some delays and uncertainties at other levels and in other areas, which I have been trying to remedy giving a decisive impetus to the Roman phase of the Cause. Significant steps have been taken in the last few weeks to accelerate the canonical process: preparations for working concretely on a fundamental technical tool to study procedural acts by the competent authorities of the Holy See, also setting out clear objectives with precise deadlines.
Therefore, the Cause is now at a decisive stage along the path. The subsequent steps will require considerable expenses: the preparation, typesetting, and printing of the probative dossiers that must be evaluated by theologians and historical experts and the fees for the latter, including the administrative fees of the Holy See, the various costs for conducting the Cause that the office of the Postulator must bear, and so forth. In fact, because of their complexity, the Causes for beatification and canonization require a great deal of work and involve numerous expenses. We need your help and financial support to cover the necessary costs for advancing the Cause of Luisa Piccarreta.
The new norms that Pope Francis has issued, with the aim of making the administration of these ecclesial realities more transparent, establish that the Actor of a Cause must constitute an asset fund for the expenses of the same Cause. The fund, originating from offerings made by both physical and juridical persons is considered, due to its particular nature, as a “fund for a pious cause”. The promoters and administrators of the fund must rigorously respect the intention of those who make the offerings, keep regularly updated accounts and draw up annual financial reports, which must be submitted by the proper authorities for approval. The Association Luisa Piccarreta in Corato has moved in this direction with prudence and rigor; for all of you, devotees and admirers of Luisa, this should be an encouraging reason to make your contribution and add your own “brick” for the construction of the Church’s recognition of the sanctity of this great little woman.
Confident of the generosity of those who met Luisa, allowing their hearts to be “touched” by her bright spiritual message and who rely on her protection, I send my warm greetings to all.
Rome, June 20, 2017
